The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced that a shooting competition will be part of the ongoing 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games tagged ASABA 2026.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bright Edafe, said the event would run from Sunday, February 15 to Thursday, February 19, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.
He explained that the competition would take place at Base 31, Police Mobile Force Shooting Range along Kwale Road in Ogwashi-Uku.
According to him, the activity will involve the regulated use of firearms strictly within the approved shooting range.
“The exercise will involve the controlled use of firearms strictly within the designated range,” Edafe stated, adding that adequate safety arrangements had been made.
He reassured residents that there was no cause for alarm, stressing that security officials would enforce strict operational guidelines throughout the exercise.
“All necessary safety and operational measures have been put in place; members of the public are therefore urged not to panic,” he said.
The Command also announced that movement around the immediate vicinity of the range would be temporarily restricted during the competition period. Residents and motorists were advised to obey traffic and safety instructions from security personnel.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aina Adesola, was quoted as reaffirming the Command’s commitment to professionalism and public safety.
“We remain committed to ensuring safety and professionalism during the games and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of residents,” the commissioner said.
