The Nigeria Police Force has announced an extension of the enforcement deadline for the Tinted Glass Permit to August 12, 2025.

The extension follows extensive public feedback calling for a more seamless and accessible application process.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, made the announcement in a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to the statement, the decision aligns with the Police Force’s commitment to “transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing.” The IGP emphasized that the additional grace period would allow for the continued refinement of the application procedures, both online and offline.

“This move is part of our ongoing effort to review and improve the Tinted Glass Permit system. We are committed to a process that is user-friendly, secure, and responsive to the needs of the public,” Adejobi stated.

The police highlighted that technical and policy reviews are in progress to enhance the verification process, reduce application delays, and simplify the overall system.

“The voices of Nigerians have not been ignored,” the statement read. “Instead, they have played a key role in shaping the reforms currently underway. These contributions are invaluable in our quest for a better service delivery model.”

Citizens are advised to use the official online platform for both new applications and renewals of their permits. The police also urged applicants to report any instances of extortion or unauthorized charges during the process.

Reaffirming its dedication to digital innovation and public safety, the police appealed for public cooperation while it finalizes reforms to the permit system.
