The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested four suspects for questioning following the mysterious disappearance of a day-old baby at Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti.

Police spokesperson SP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the newborn, delivered around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, was allegedly stolen by unknown persons.

Abutu disclosed that medical personnel on duty, security guards, and other individuals are currently assisting with the investigation. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough probe and ensure the baby’s safe recovery.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria, a source familiar with the case said that a nurse discovered the infant missing during her morning rounds to attend to the mother and child.

NAN reported that attempts to reach the hospital management for comments were unsuccessful as of press time. The police have intensified efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the baby’s disappearance.
