The Gombe State Police Command has rolled out what it described as “robust security arrangements” to guarantee a peaceful celebration of Maulud across the state.
In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the deployment was approved by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, and covers procession routes, prayer grounds, and other strategic locations.
According to him, the security architecture combines conventional police officers with tactical units, intelligence teams, and operational equipment.
“The command has made adequate provisions to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the Maulud celebration,” Abdullahi stated.
He warned that the existing ban on carrying weapons in public gatherings remains in force, stressing that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted.
The police also reminded residents that the restriction on motorcycle operations between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. is still effective as part of measures to curb criminal activities.
“We call on procession organisers, religious leaders, and stakeholders to take full responsibility for the conduct of their members and ensure strict compliance with security directives,” the PPRO added.
While congratulating Muslims on the occasion, Commissioner Yahaya urged residents to remain law-abiding and assist security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities that could threaten public peace.
“This is a season of celebration. We must all work together to ensure it is observed peacefully. The command remains committed to protecting lives and property,” Yahaya assured.
