The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has refuted media reports claiming its operatives sealed off the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, clarified that police officers were only deployed to the area to maintain law and order as part of their constitutional duties.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that this information is false, misleading, and does not reflect the true situation on ground,” Adeh said.
She explained that the police presence at the PDP Secretariat was purely a preventive measure to ensure peace and public safety. “At no time was the Secretariat sealed off by the Police,” Adeh emphasized.
The statement also included a message from the FCT Commissioner of Police, who advised media organizations to always verify sensitive information with the Police Public Relations Office before publication.
