Police arrest two suspected Lagos traffic robbers

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected traffic robbers just a day after a motorist reported repeated attacks along the Ojota-Ketu corridor.

The motorist, who contacted the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer via X, SP Abimbola Adebisi, recounted how a gang of four men tried to break into her vehicle in broad daylight at the Ojota bridge while she was traveling with her daughter.

She said the suspects struck her side windows with fists and stones in an attempt to force entry.

Her account, which has gone viral, places the incident between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday.

“I was left traumatised after the men displayed what appeared to be a weapon and repeatedly attempted to smash my windows,” she said.

She further revealed that the same group reappeared at the bridge days later, though heavy traffic prevented another confrontation.

The motorist also criticized the lack of routine police presence during both incidents.

In response, SP Adebisi confirmed that officers from the Command Intelligence and Tactical Unit immediately launched an operation following the distress message.

“Based on the information received, our operatives swung into action, and within 24 hours, two suspects were arrested on 08/12/25,” SP Adebisi said. “They were caught in the act and have since confessed to harassing motorists along the Ojota–Ketu corridor.”

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation as police increase patrols at identified black spots.

SP Adebisi reassured Lagosians of the command’s commitment to citizen safety, urging the public to remain vigilant.

“As we always say: when you see something, say something. Your cooperation is essential. Thank you for your continued support. Eko o ni baje!” he said.
