A 29-year-old suspected armed robber, Zephaniah Alfred, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command following a complaint lodged by a local resident, bringing to an end his reign of terror along the Numan–Gombe Road corridor.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Alfred had been on the police watchlist for a series of violent crimes, particularly armed robbery incidents in and around the Numan and Gombe Road axis.

The arrest was initiated after a resident, Ibrahim Maikano, reported threats to his life allegedly made by the suspect. Acting on the complaint, operatives from the Numan Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly moved into action and successfully apprehended Alfred.

“Following the report, our officers swung into action and arrested the suspect. He has been a long-standing target for his involvement in several robbery cases in the area,” Nguroje said.

Upon his arrest, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant on Alfred’s residence. The operation led to the discovery of a cache of weapons and military-style clothing.

“During the search, we recovered one locally made pistol, two live AK-47 rounds, one pistol ammunition, a live cartridge, a pair of military camouflage uniforms, four military camouflage caps, two camouflage T-shirts, and a black torchlight,” Nguroje detailed.

The police noted that all recovered items have been documented as evidence, and Alfred is currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

Nguroje assured the public that efforts to rid the state of criminal elements remain a top priority for the police. “We urge residents to continue cooperating with the command by providing timely information that will aid in maintaining public safety,” he added.
