Police arrest man for allegedly raping minor in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested 54-year-old Mohammed Tukur of Sabon Gari Village in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area for the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl, Zulei Malam Dahiru.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred in Zambuk Division, with the victim immediately rushed to General Hospital Zambuk for medical examination while the suspect remains in custody.

“Police visited the scene, rushed the victim to General Hospital Zambuk for medical examination, and arrested the suspect. Investigation is ongoing,” Abdullahi stated. The Command strongly condemned all forms of sexual violence and urged residents to report criminal cases promptly for swift action.

In a separate operation on August 9, police arrested 18-year-old Hassan Aminu Sadiq, a wanted serial armed robbery suspect from Yelwa Quarters, Kwadon in Gombe metropolis. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from Kwadon Division apprehended the suspect who was found with a roll of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in two separate armed robbery cases currently pending before the High Court, Gombe,” Abdullahi revealed. The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect and recovered exhibit have been transferred to the Anti-Violence Squad for further investigation and prosecution.
