Police arrest Lagos taxi driver for serial rape

Operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, have arrested a commercial taxi driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for allegedly attacking and sexually assaulting several female passengers across different parts of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday.

According to the police, the suspect was identified through viral social media posts, where multiple women shared accounts accusing him of rape, assault and robbery after posing as a taxi driver.

Adebisi said the arrest followed a discreet investigation ordered by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohudare Jimoh, after the complaints gained public attention.

“The operational vehicle used by the suspect during the attacks has been recovered and secured as an exhibit,” the police spokesperson added.

Adebisi note that efforts were underway to track down possible accomplices believed to have collaborated with the suspect during some of the attacks.
