The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested four men believed to be part of an armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects were nabbed on August 8, 2025, at about 11:30 a.m. by operatives from Bori Division during a routine patrol along Nkpee Street in Bori, Khana Local Government Area.

The arrests followed a distress call about suspicious activity in the area. Those taken into custody are identified as 26-year-old Solomon Chris, 26-year-old Fabulous John, 30-year-old Wisdom Kalongo, and 33-year-old Wisdom Samuel.

Items recovered from the suspects include a locally-made revolver pistol with one live round, an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number BNY-758FS, a quantity of hard drugs (loud), criminal charms, and other exhibits.

SP Iringe-Koko noted that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang and recover more weapons.

“This is another major breakthrough in our fight against violent crime in the state. We will continue to act decisively against criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of residents,” she said.

She further urged members of the public to support police efforts by sharing credible and timely information. “The safety of our communities is a shared responsibility.

The public’s cooperation has been instrumental in many of our successes, and we encourage people to keep working with us,” the police spokesperson added.

The command assured that more details would be made available as the investigation progresses.
