The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man, identified as Peter Adubi, over the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. The arrest was announced on Friday following a report made by the girl’s guardian.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident came to light on January 8, 2026, around 8:50 pm, when the guardian noticed unusual sexualized behaviour in the minor. Upon gentle questioning, the girl revealed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while living with her mother in the Molade area of Ibadan.
Ayanlade stated, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly committed the offence during that period. The minor was immediately taken for medical examination, which confirmed the abuse. This evidence has strengthened the case against the suspect and guided further investigation.”
Following the confirmation, Adubi was taken into custody, and the alleged crime scene was visited by police investigators.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender Desk, for a thorough and discreet investigation.
The police called on residents to remain vigilant and report any cases of sexual abuse promptly.
