Greek heavyweights, Panathinaikos, have Reportedly joined the race for Rangers and Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers.
Dessers had earlier been on the radar of AEK Athens, who reportedly tabled a £30,000-per-week offer for the Nigerian forward.
The bid, worth £4.5m, was turned down by Rangers, with AEK yet to return with an improved proposal.
Now, according to Record Sport, Panathinaikos are closely monitoring developments and see the 29-year-old as a direct replacement for Fotis Ioannidis, who is set to complete a move to Leeds United before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Dessers has been sidelined in Rangers’ last three matches due to a knee problem but remains in contention after traveling with the squad for their crucial UEFA Champions League playoff second leg against Belgian outfit Club Brugge.
