The Oyo State Government has issued a strong warning to secondary school students and teachers across the state to steer clear of all forms of examination malpractice during the ongoing National Examination Council exams.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Oladipo Olubukola, gave the warning during a monitoring exercise across various schools in the state on Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaking during the visit, Olubukola emphasized the need for students to remain committed to their studies rather than seeking shortcuts.

“Academic dishonesty undermines the integrity of our education system. Students must focus on their studies and avoid malpractices that could jeopardize their future,” she stated.

She also appealed to teachers to uphold the values of discipline and integrity during the examination period.

“We are counting on our teachers to guide students rightly. The government has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct during examinations,” she added.

Olubukola reiterated the Makinde-led administration’s dedication to improving education, adding that the commission will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure that high academic standards are maintained in public schools.

The TESCOM boss assured that anyone found culpable of malpractice would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with existing regulations.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Ibadan Grammar School, Mr. Ogunleye Biodun, praised Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing education and for consistent support in raising academic standards in the state.

“Governor Makinde has continued to demonstrate his commitment to education. We commend his efforts in improving facilities and ensuring students get quality education,” he said.

Some of the schools visited during the monitoring exercise include Ibadan Grammar School, St. Anne’s School, Olubi Memorial Grammar School, and Saint Luke’s College, all in Ibadan.

The state government has reiterated its stance on zero tolerance for examination malpractice as NECO exams continue across public schools in Oyo State.
