Public fury has trailed a distressing viral video showing operatives of a local security outfit in Anambra State, Agunechemba Vigilante Group (popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achi), physically assaulting and stripping a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, Jennifer Edema Elohor.
The footage, first shared on Facebook by the Haven 360 Foundation on Monday, captured the terrifying moment gun-wielding vigilantes stormed a corps members’ lodge and attacked Elohor along with several colleagues.
According to the foundation, the incident occurred on July 23, 2025, when the vigilantes allegedly accused the corps members of being internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as ‘Yahoo boys’.
In a statement condemning the act, Haven 360 Foundation said, “Despite presenting their NYSC identity cards and uniforms immediately, the vigilantes went ahead to brutalise them. The assault was particularly horrifying in the case of Jennifer Edema Elohor, who was beaten, stripped naked, and left bleeding.”
The organisation added that the victims were subjected to “humiliating, sexually degrading remarks and threats, including threats of sexual violence.”
Eyewitnesses in the video could be heard pleading with the vigilantes as Elohor was dragged, beaten, and forced to the ground in full public glare.
“This is a gross human rights violation. Corps members posted to serve their country should not be met with such barbarity,” Haven 360 Foundation further lamented, calling on security agencies to swiftly investigate and prosecute those involved.
Meanwhile, calls have intensified on social media for the Anambra State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and the NYSC to take urgent action.
“We demand justice for Jennifer and all NYSC members brutalised in this shameful incident,” the foundation insisted.
The NYSC and the Anambra State Police Command have yet to issue formal statements of the incident at the time of filing this report.
