Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has appealed to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to increase the revenue allocations due to Abia State, saying such a move would enable the state to achieve faster development.

Governor Otti made this call on Sunday at his office in Umuahia when he received a delegation led by Mrs Nkechi Otti, the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the RMAFC.

The governor emphasised that higher federal allocations would greatly assist his administration in executing numerous developmental projects across the state. He also noted that his government had demonstrated prudent financial management, as confirmed by a recent report from the Debt Management Office.

“Anything you can do to help us increase our Federal allocation will be very much appreciated,” Otti said.

“Once again, thank you for the report. I will take my time and read through it.

“We have a lot of things on our hands. If we get more money to be able to execute them, why not? Particularly, we have also shown financial discipline,” he added.

Earlier, Mrs Otti explained that her visit was primarily to familiarise herself with the state leadership, following her appointment a few months ago as the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the RMAFC.
