Osun State monarch, the Oluwu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Makama Oyelude, has renewed his call for Nigerians to throw their weight behind the country’s military forces in confronting escalating security challenges and the emergence of new threats.

This appeal was conveyed in a statement released by his media office on Friday, following the recent arrest of several Pakistani nationals by the Nigerian military earlier in the week.

Oba Makama expressed concern over the growing presence of militias and foreign mercenaries, describing it as a grave danger to Nigeria’s national security.

He emphasized the responsibility of traditional rulers in safeguarding their communities and preventing terrorist infiltration.

He stated, “As we all know that the Nigerian Army is responsible for the promotion and securing of our territorial integrity which is the symbol of our sovereignty, we must all rally round them to ensure they succeed in this onerous task.”

The traditional ruler underscored the importance of unity, noting that preserving the nation’s integrity is imperative and failure to do so could have disastrous consequences.

“It is unthinkable that Pakistan nationals will be caught training the Boko Haram insurgency on how to attack the symbol of our sovereignty which is the Nigerian Army,” he said.

Oba Makama also raised alarm over the acquisition of sophisticated weaponry by terrorist groups, including drones and advanced military equipment, which they are reportedly using to challenge the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“We must ensure that all hands are on deck to defeat this deadly monster before it is too late,” the monarch added.

Remarking, the Osun monarch lauded the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Oluyede, for his commitment to the welfare of troops and for leading by example.
