Osimhen must undergo training after sealing deal – Galatasaray coach

Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk, has emphasized that Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, must undergo intensive training to regain full fitness before returning to action.

The Nigerian striker, who is reportedly close to finalizing a permanent transfer to the Turkish champions, has yet to feature in any of the team’s three preseason friendlies.

Galatasaray recently recorded their third straight preseason victory, adding a 2-1 win over Cagliari to earlier triumphs against Ümraniyespor (5-2) and Admira Wacker (2-1).

Following the match, Buruk spoke to Nefes, shedding light on Osimhen’s situation and the team’s attacking options going into the new season.

“I’ve started Barış at center forward,” Buruk said after the Cagliari game, as quoted by Nefes.

“He’s played before, but he’s been playing on the wing for a long time. It’s good to have him back at center. Who we’ll start with at the start of the season and how we’ll start is a question mark for us.

“We’re waiting for Victor Osimhen. We want him to arrive as soon as possible, but he’ll also have to undergo training. Icardi’s arrival in the team and Morata’s situation will become clearer.”

The squad is now set to return to Istanbul, where they will round off their summer preparations with home games at RAMS Park against Strasbourg on July 26 and Lazio on August 2.
