Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has hailed Galatasaray’s emphatic win over rivals Fenerbahçe in the heated Istanbul derby.
Okan Buruk’s men delivered a commanding 3-0 victory at RAMS Park on Sunday night.
Osimhen set the tone for the hosts, breaking the deadlock five minutes before halftime. Barış Yılmaz and Lucas Torreira added further goals after the break to wrap up a dominant performance.
The win keeps Galatasaray firmly on course for a fourth consecutive Turkish league title. They now sit on 74 points after 31 matches, with just three fixtures remaining in the regular season.
Osimhen Reflects on Big Win
“We fought well as a team. We disappointed our fans in the cup. I’m proud of my team’s performance and happy about the victory,” Osimhen was quoted by Fanatik.
“You know I can score against any team. That’s my job. I do it well. The team deserves congratulations; we showed how prepared we are.”
Focus Turns to Samsunspor
Galatasaray could seal the title if they avoid defeat in their next outing against Samsunspor on May 2.
“We’ve taken another step closer to our championship goal. Samsunspor is a quality opponent. We will want to win every match from now on,” Osimhen added.
Responds to Fenerbahçe’s Pre-Match Tactics
The Nigerian forward also dismissed Fenerbahçe’s pre-match complaints, describing them as unnecessary distractions.
“I can’t understand Fenerbahçe .They complained about the protector on my arm before the match against the best team in the league,” he stated.
“It didn’t seem logical to me.
“But I came, I did my job and delivered my message in the best way possible.”
