A fatal auto crash along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, near the Soka area in Ibadan, claimed the life of an unidentified man on Tuesday morning.
According to The PUNCH, the accident involving a Toyota Camry with Lagos number plates occurred at the same location where over ten people reportedly died in a crash just a week ago.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the incident as tragic and avoidable. One resident, who witnessed the crash, told our reporter, “The driver was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle.
He hit the roadside culvert and rammed into a trailer that had been left on the road since last week’s accident. He died on the spot.”
Another eyewitness lamented the poor management of accident scenes along the expressway. “That trailer has been there for days, and nothing was done to remove it. If the authorities had cleared it, this wouldn’t have happened,” he said.
Although the exact cause of the accident remains unclear at the time of filing this report, residents have called on relevant agencies to promptly remove abandoned vehicles and trailers along major roads to prevent further tragedies.
Efforts to reach officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps in Oyo State for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
