The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Bamidele Akingboye, has expressed his expectations for a credible election in the ongoing governorship poll in Ondo State.
Mr. Akingboye, who cast his vote at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Unit 10, Ward 2, Okitipupa area of the state, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission and other stakeholders to ensure the process is transparent and fair.
He emphasized his readiness to accept the outcome of the election as long as it is credible, even if he does not emerge as the winner.
“I am optimistic to win to deliver my people from hunger and poverty. This is one of the reasons why I worked very hard to get the ticket of SDP,” he said.
The candidate praised INEC for its punctuality at polling units, the dedication of its staff, and the deployment of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System. He also commended the security agents for ensuring safety at the polling units, providing protection for both INEC staff and voters.
Mr. Akingboye noted the impressive voter turnout, expressing confidence that more voters would still come out to exercise their franchise as the day progressed.
