Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited several ongoing road construction and repair projects in Benin City on Monday to assess progress on key infrastructure developments in the state capital.

During the inspection, Okpebholo toured important sites, including the Upper Mission Road Extension near Aduwawa Junction, Obadan Junction, and parts of the Benin-Auchi Expressway.

The visit aimed to evaluate the work done since contractors were mobilized to the locations, according to Independent.

The Governor acknowledged the difficulties posed by the deteriorating sections of the Upper Mission Extension, noting the significant disruptions faced by residents and businesses in the area.

He emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing the issues quickly and improving the living conditions of those affected.

Governor Okpebholo highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects in the state’s development, emphasizing that the completion of key roads would not only ease transportation but also stimulate economic growth and create new opportunities for the people of Edo State.

He also spoke about the strategic role of the Obadan Road, describing it as an essential link for commerce and trade. Once finished, the road is expected to improve connectivity with other regions, boosting business activity and enhancing economic development in the state.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s proactive approach to governance, noting that work on major projects, including the construction of flyovers, had already commenced within days of taking office. He emphasized that his government is committed to delivering tangible results and addressing the infrastructure challenges facing the state.

“The failed portion at Upper Mission Extension Road was in a terrible state,” he said. “Last week, I came to assess the damage, and I saw how vehicles struggled to pass through. Businesses and people in the area are suffering, but my administration is determined to fix this problem and put smiles on their faces.

“Our mandate is to transform Edo State and make it a place we can all be proud of. The President is equally concerned about Edo’s condition, and we are working in partnership to address these issues comprehensively.

” This road is critical to our state as it connects Edo to Agor, Onitsha, and the northern regions of the country. It is strategic for boosting trade and economic development. We are committed to ensuring that such essential projects are completed efficiently.

“We’ve hit the ground running. For us, it is work, work, and more work. Our administration is focused on delivering tangible results to Edo people,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
