Esther Okoronkwo has emerged as the Super Falcons’ Fans Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year-old forward delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, contributing two goals and six assists in six matches for Nigeria.
Representing AFC Toronto, Okoronkwo also earned two Woman of the Match accolades during the competition, solidifying her influence in the Falcons’ campaign.
The official announcement came via the Super Falcons’ X account, “Presenting your #WAFCON2024 Fans’ Player of the Tournament… Esther Okoronkwo, OON. Clutch. Composed. Crowned by the people,” the post read.
She beat competition from five of her teammates, Rasheedat Ajibade, Folashade Ijamilusi, Ashleigh Plumptre, Chiwendu Ihezuo, and Jennifer Echegini, who were also shortlisted for the award.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons lifted the WAFCON 2024 title after a thrilling 3-2 victory over host nation Morocco in the final.
