Nigerian hip-hop sensation, Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known by his stage name Odumodublvck, has broken his silence regarding the backlash over alleged misogynistic lyrics.
The controversy stemmed from a line in his 2023 hit collaboration with Shallipopi, titled Cast, where he implied that certain women might rely on transactional relationships to afford luxury items like wigs and designer handbags.
Speaking recently during an interview on The Beat FM, Lagos, Odumodublvck dismissed the misogyny claims, calling them “fake.”
“In the last year, I am the artist that has featured the most women in the game. What kind of misogynist is that? That’s a fake one,” he asserted, defending his track record of supporting female artists in the industry.
The lyrics to The Cast by Shallipopi and Odumodublvck include the lines:
“Say say say
World wide plutomainians
That na normal things
Presido with the big machine.”
They go on to add:
“Your girlfriend friend wanna s**k my things
But no be that kind person I be
If I puff smoke give you and you no pass
If you no pass, that means e don cast
No last chance, e don cast o
E don cast o, e don cast o.”
The allegation emerged against Odumodublvck amid growing speculation surrounding his past connection with Onyeka, a contestant on BBNaija Season 9.
The individual behind the claim questioned why Onyeka continues to receive admiration, given Odumodublvck’s alleged past behaviour.
In his defense, the rapper firmly refuted the accusation, asserting that he has never laid a hand on any woman.
He highlighted his professional relationships with various female artists and project managers as evidence of his respect and regard for women.
Odumodublvck said he felt compelled to clarify the situation out of respect for his family and fans, while also cautioning the public against spreading false narratives.
