Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, have officially confirmed the permanent transfer of Uruguayan forward, Darwin Núñez to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
In a statement released on Saturday, the club announced that Núñez’s three-year tenure at Anfield has come to an end as he finalized his move to the Saudi Pro League.
Since joining Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022, Núñez made 143 appearances and netted 40 goals, playing a key role in the Reds’ success, which included winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
The striker marked his competitive debut by scoring, helping Jürgen Klopp’s squad secure the FA Community Shield with a victory over Manchester City.
During his first season, Núñez scored 15 goals across 42 matches and earned the club’s Standard Chartered Player of the Month award twice.
He improved his tally in the following season with 18 goals, including a memorable brace as a substitute against Newcastle United that contributed to a stunning comeback early in the campaign.
The 2024-25 season was Núñez’s last with Liverpool, culminating in lifting the Premier League trophy.
One standout moment was his two stoppage-time goals that clinched a dramatic win at Brentford in January, a key highlight of the historic title-winning campaign.
Liverpool extended their gratitude to Núñez for his dedication and contributions, wishing him and his family all the best as he embarks on this new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
