In a decisive move against oil theft and environmental degradation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has taken down an illegal artisanal oil refining site discovered deep within Umuohala community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
The breakthrough, revealed through a post on the Corps’ official X handle, was led by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad.
The squad carried out the operation in one of the remote areas of the state, reinforcing its commitment to tackling crude oil theft and curbing the resulting environmental damage.
Marking a notable advance in the fight against illegal oil operations, the NSCDC stated, “In a renewed onslaught against oil theft, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has successfully uncovered and dismantled an illegal artisanal oil refining camp hidden deep in the creeks of Umuohala Community, Ukwa West LGA, Abia State.”
