NSCDC arrests two suspects with vandalized railway materials in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has apprehended two suspects and recovered a vehicle loaded with vandalized railway sleepers in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

NSCDC Public Relations Officer Saminu Yusuf confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Yusuf revealed that the suspects were captured on July 29 following actionable intelligence reports. According to the spokesman, NSCDC operatives intercepted a white Peugeot J5 bus with registration number KTG 40 XF, which was carrying 80 pieces of vandalized railway sleepers and four bags of charcoal.

The State Commandant, Oloyede Oyerinde, praised the officers for their prompt action, stating, “The Corps remains committed to protecting critical national infrastructure.”

He issued a stern warning to vandals, emphasizing they would face the full consequences of the law.

Oyerinde called on community members to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to security agencies, noting, “Public cooperation is essential in combating acts of sabotage against national assets.”
