NNPP wins two state assembly seats in Kano re-run

The candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party in the just concluded rerun election in Kura/Garun Mallam State Constituency of Kano State, Dr Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s rerun election in the constituency.

The INEC returning officer of the election, Prof. Shehu Musa Galadanchi, disclosed this while announcing the results.

Announcing the results of the election, Galadanchi noted that Ishaq of NNPP polled 37,262 to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Musa Hayatu Daurawar who polled a total of 30,803 votes.

The rerun election became necessary in the constituents, following the judgement of the appeal court, which directed INEC to conduct a rerun election at 20 polling units in the Kura/Garun Malam state constituency of Kano State.

Similarly, Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu of the NNPP has been declared the winner of Saturday’s rerun election at Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituency of Kano State.

The returning officer of the election, Prof. Ibrahim Tajo Suraj announced that Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu polled 31,135 votes to beat his opponent from the APC, who polled 25,577 votes.

In the same manner, the appeal court had also directed INEC to conduct a rerun election at 33 polling units in the Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituency of the state.
