NIN enrolment hits 120m as NIMC reviews service charges

The National Identity Management Commission has announced a significant milestone, revealing that it has successfully enrolled 120,000,040 citizens and legal residents for the National Identity Number.

This achievement was shared by the Director General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, during a press conference held on Wednesday, where she also addressed the commission’s recent revision of its service pricing framework.

Coker-Odusote noted that over the past 24 months, the commission has been actively scaling up its infrastructure to better serve Nigerians.

She also highlighted that efforts to sanitize operations within the agency have yielded positive results, with corruption levels reduced by 40 percent.

Speaking on the newly reviewed service fees, she pointed out that while some costs were adjusted upward, others were lowered to ensure fairness and curb exploitation.

“There were some prices that were too much, so what we did was to remove them.

“There were all sorts of prices over there. People were extorting citizens with outrageous prices.

“NIN enrolment is free. But if you want to modify your data for any reason, you have to pay more.

“Some prices were reviewed downwards and others upwards.

“In terms of verification, the prices were reviewed downwards but upwards in terms of modifications,” she said.

It is worth recalling that on May 1, 2025, NIMC formally announced adjustments to its service charges.
