FC Porto has named Nigeria international Zaidu Sanusi in their squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sanusi is among the 28 players selected by the Portuguese giants who touched down at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday night, ahead of the maiden edition of the global tournament.

The 27-year-old left-back had been out of action for several months after suffering a cruciate ligament injury shortly after returning from international duty with the Super Eagles in March 2024.

The injury kept him on the sidelines for eight months, but he made his comeback late last year.

Despite his return, Sanusi has struggled to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup, sparking speculation about a potential exit from the club.

He currently has two years remaining on his contract with Porto.

During the group stage of the competition, Porto will face a challenging line-up that includes Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, Palmeiras of Brazil, and Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly.
