Newcastle United forward, Alexander Isak, is unlikely to be present at Tuesday night’s Professional Footballers’ Association awards ceremony.

The Swedish striker, who is among the nominees for the main prize, is expected to skip the event amid growing uncertainty surrounding his future at St James’ Park.

Isak is currently locked in a dispute with Newcastle over his wish to secure a move to Liverpool before the summer transfer window closes.

According to BBC Sport, the 25-year-old has not confirmed his participation at the gala, set to take place at the Manchester Opera House, raising questions about whether he intends to show up.

Reports from other outlets also suggest that Isak “, as things stand, is not planning on attending the event.”

Traditionally, players shortlisted for the PFA’s top awards or named in the divisional Teams of the Year tend to confirm their attendance within 24 hours of the showpiece, meaning there is still a possibility of a last-minute change in Isak’s plans.

Even at this stage, the PFA would no doubt welcome his presence at the prestigious event.

For now, Isak remains away from Eddie Howe’s first-team squad, with no signs that he will be reintegrated in the immediate future.

His attendance at the awards could prove awkward considering the speculation surrounding his future.

The Swede has already written his name into Newcastle’s history books, playing a pivotal role in their 2-1 Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool in March, the club’s first trophy in decades.

He struck in the 52nd minute to extend the Magpies’ advantage after Dan Burn’s opener.

On top of that, Isak was Newcastle’s standout performer in the league last season, finishing with 23 goals and six assists in 34 appearances, helping the club secure a Champions League berth.
