The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Professor Yilwatda Nentawe, has been appointed as the substantive National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the 14th National Executive Committee meeting of the party, held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, moved the motion for Nentawe’s appointment, which was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Shortly after the motion was passed, Nentawe was sworn into office at exactly 2:50 p.m. in the presence of several high-ranking APC members and stakeholders.

Nentawe, who hails from Plateau State in Nigeria’s North Central zone, previously contested the 2023 governorship election in the state under the APC platform.

His appointment comes as the party looks to consolidate its leadership structure ahead of future political engagements.
