The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano State has intercepted a 29-year-old man in possession of 7,000 capsules of suspected Tramadol.

The Command’s spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday.

He said the suspect was caught on Saturday by NDLEA operatives attached to the Kiru Area Command.

According to him, the suspect was travelling from Lagos when he was apprehended along the Zaria–Kano highway, at the Kwanar Dangora axis, with the drugs hidden inside a 20-litre jerrycan.

“The seizure, weighing about 4.1 kilograms, represents a significant breakthrough in our ongoing fight against drug abuse in the state,” Muhammad-Maigatari said.

He noted that the officers displayed a high level of professionalism in detecting the concealed substances.

The State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, applauded the operatives for their vigilance and restated the agency’s resolve to rid Kano of illicit drugs.

“This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to dismantling drug supply chains and safeguarding communities,” Idris-Ahmad said.

He also commended NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa, for providing consistent guidance and support to field officers.

The NDLEA urged residents of Kano to continue supporting the agency by providing credible information that will aid its fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
