The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), has commissioned a state-of-the-art Vision Centre at the agency’s National Headquarters Annexe in Abuja, as part of efforts to improve the welfare and productivity of personnel.
The centre, designed to provide quality eye care services to NDLEA staff and their families, was established through a collaborative effort involving the NDLEA, the Nigerian Optometric Association, and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Friday, Marwa described the initiative as a significant step toward boosting staff morale and ensuring their well-being.
“We are here with every sense of fulfilment and happiness to commission this Vision Centre,” he stated.
“It reflects our unwavering commitment to the health and efficiency of our personnel. Good vision is not just a health issue, it is central to productivity, decision-making, and quality of life.”
The NOA President, Dr. Chimeziri Anderson, commended the partnership, describing the facility as a rare achievement within government institutions.
“This centre is a model for sustainable eye care delivery,” he said. “With support from our partners in France and Dubai, we are bringing in world-class equipment and services to ensure that NDLEA staff have access to premium eye care and quality eyewear.”
Also speaking at the event, the NDLEA Director of Medical Services, Dr. Audu Okpe, noted that the launch of the centre underscores the agency’s strategic approach t staff welfare under Marwa’s leadership.
“This is yet another milestone in our pursuit of comprehensive healthcare for our workforce,” Dr. Okpe said. “It also highlights the benefits of collaboration between security institutions and health professionals in addressing vital needs.”
The Vision Centre is expected to serve as a reference point for other government agencies in integrating health and wellness into institutional operations.
