The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has commenced preparations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, following the successful return of Nigerian pilgrims from the 2025 exercise.
NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Pakistan, revealed this while addressing journalists in Kano upon his return from Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
“We are not wasting any time. The Saudi authorities have made it clear that they want every country to complete all Hajj logistics on time,” he said. “We are therefore seeking approval to announce the 2026 Hajj fare soon. We urge all intending pilgrims to begin registration early.”
Expressing gratitude for the success of the 2025 pilgrimage, Alhaji Pakistan thanked Almighty Allah and acknowledged the role of the Federal Government in ensuring a seamless exercise.
“In the name of Allah, we give thanks for a smooth and fulfilling Hajj. I appreciate the unwavering support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Their guidance empowered us to work as a team and deliver on our responsibilities,” he said.
He also noted that testimonies from pilgrims and lawmakers affirmed the commission’s successful handling of this year’s operations.
“We received positive feedback from pilgrims, as well as members of the National Assembly Committees on Foreign Affairs and Hajj Affairs. Their words confirm our progress,” he added.
Alhaji Pakistan further appreciated the Nigerian media for amplifying NAHCON’s message throughout the Hajj process.
“Your role in reaching Nigerians with our updates cannot be overstated. We are grateful and look forward to continued partnership,” he said.
Looking ahead, the NAHCON boss stated that the commission is leveraging insights gained from this year’s Hajj to improve planning for 2026.
“We’ve learned a great deal from the 2025 Hajj. Insha Allah, we’re committed to providing an even more efficient experience next year,” he assured.
He reiterated that the success of the Hajj was not solely due to the commission’s efforts.
“This accomplishment belongs to Allah. We were only instruments in the hands of divine will,” Pakistan concluded.
He encouraged intending pilgrims to act quickly, disclosing that Saudi Arabia intends to finalize all Hajj preparations for next year within two to three months.
