The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has successfully airlifted more than 14,000 Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia back to the country as part of its 2025 Hajj return operations.
A statement from the NAHCON Command and Control Centre in Makkah, released on Saturday via the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, disclosed that two flights operated by Flynas Airlines departed Jeddah for Sokoto and Abuja respectively, marking continued progress in the return phase of the pilgrimage.
According to the statement, “Flight XY9082 left Jeddah for Sokoto at 07:51 a.m. local time, carrying 422 pilgrims and four officials from Sokoto State. This brings the cumulative number of pilgrims returned so far to 13,589 on 32 flights.”
Another Flynas flight, XY9022, reportedly departed Jeddah for Abuja at 10:33 a.m. the same day, conveying 425 pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory along with four officials. With this addition, the total number of pilgrims successfully transported back to Nigeria stands at 14,014 across 33 completed flights.
Reiterating its commitment to the success of the Hajj operations, the Commission assured the public that it remains focused on ensuring the timely and safe return of all Nigerian pilgrims.
“Our dedication to a seamless Hajj operation remains firm,” the Command and Control Centre stated. “We are steadily advancing in airlifting Nigerian pilgrims back home after their spiritual journey.”
NAHCON further revealed that it continues to monitor and coordinate the airlift process closely in collaboration with airline partners and relevant stakeholders to maintain safety and efficiency throughout the exercise.
The Commission commended the cooperation of the pilgrims and the efforts of its officials in facilitating a smooth return process.
