NAF airstrikes destroy Boko Haram enclaves in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force has launched a series of precise and coordinated airstrikes on key Boko Haram strongholds in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State, killing several terrorists and destroying critical infrastructure belonging to the insurgent group.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, July 6, under the ongoing Operation Hadin Kai, specifically targeted the Wa Jahode and Loghpere enclaves — both known hideouts of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad faction of Boko Haram, situated along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

“In a major blow to insurgent elements in Nigeria’s North-East, the Nigerian Air Force launched precision airstrikes on 6 July 2025 against key terrorist hideouts deep within the Mandara Mountains,” he said.

He explained that the operation was based on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) reports, which revealed clusters of structures in the targeted areas. These structures were identified by their solar panels, black flags, and heavily fortified layouts—clear indicators of active terrorist presence and preparations for coordinated attacks.

“The locations had recently witnessed increased terrorist activity, including logistics buildup and the presence of senior JAS commanders,” Ejodame noted. “In response, our aircraft carried out well-planned air interdictions, targeting and destroying several high-value facilities such as logistics warehouses, command centres, and fortified shelters.”

He further confirmed that many insurgents were eliminated during the air raids, significantly disrupting Boko Haram’s operations in the region.

“Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation, effectively cutting off their supply lines and weakening their ability to launch further attacks,” he said.

Reaffirming the force’s commitment to national security, Ejodame assured Nigerians that the Air Force would continue its offensive operations until peace is restored in all troubled regions.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains steadfast in its mission to rid the country of terrorism and ensure lasting peace across Nigeria,” he concluded.
