A commercial motorcyclist identified as Nazifi Ibrahim was killed by unknown assailants in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victim, a northern Nigerian native, was reportedly attacked while transporting a passenger to Alafia Street in Ore late Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m., creating tension in the usually bustling commercial town. A local source revealed, “We don’t know what transpired between the deceased and the assailants before he was shot,” indicating the attack appeared sudden and unprovoked.
Ondo State Police Command spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the killing, stating that investigators found the victim’s lifeless body at the scene with his motorcycle missing.
“Upon receiving information, the DPO in Ore and his team went to the scene, where the victim’s lifeless body was found and his bike was missing, according to eyewitnesses,” Olayinka said.
The police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with Olayinka adding, “The command has launched a manhunt for those responsible, and the investigation continues.” The victim has since been buried following Islamic funeral rites.
