Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, with the player expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed a transfer package with Valencia worth €15 million plus performance-related add-ons for the Spain Under-23 international.
Mosquera, 21, is set to bolster Arsenal’s defensive options, offering versatility with his ability to play both as a centre-back and at right-back. He is expected to sign a five-year contract with the North London club.
Reflecting on his departure, Mosquera told Radio MARCA Valencia on Monday, “Valencia is my home and it always will be. I arrived when I was 12 and I’m leaving as a grown man.
“I’m a little sad because I’ve spent my whole life here. Decisions in football are like that. Now a new era begins. It’s exciting, but I’m leaving sad.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are bracing for a busy week in the transfer market. Talks are progressing over a £52 million move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, and negotiations are ongoing to secure Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
