Messi’s Inter Miami reportedly set for White House visit

Inter Miami CF are reportedly set for a special visit to the White House in March following their 2025 MLS Cup success, with Argentine icon Lionel Messi expected to be part of the delegation.

According to the Miami Herald, citing an unnamed club source, “everyone” in the squad will be present at the ceremony hosted by US President Donald Trump.

The event is scheduled to take place two days before Miami face D.C. United in the capital on March 7.

Messi, now 38, previously received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour in the United States, from former president Joe Biden in January 2025.

However, the Argentine great did not attend that White House ceremony.

Trump’s growing interest in football has been evident in recent months. He has held multiple meetings with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and also welcomed Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo for a high-profile White House visit.

The US president was involved in the trophy presentation at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup staged in the United States and later appeared on stage during the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Infantino presented him with the inaugural FIFA peace prize.

On the pitch, Inter Miami concluded their international friendly tour on Thursday with a 2-1 win over Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico.

However, they began their MLS campaign with a defeat to Los Angeles FC and are now preparing for Sunday’s clash against Orlando City SC.
