Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martínez is on the verge of a sensational move to Manchester United as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
The Argentina international has reportedly informed Villa of his desire to complete the switch.
Football transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed on Monday that the World Cup winner has already shaken hands on personal terms with United boss Ruben Amorim’s side.
“Clear message again after the game as personal terms are agreed with Manchester United,” Romano posted on X.
Martínez’s arrival is widely tipped to solve United’s lingering goalkeeping concerns. Both Andre Onana and Altay Bayındır have struggled to win over the Old Trafford faithful, with high-profile mistakes undermining the team’s stability between the sticks.
United, fresh off their first Premier League victory of the campaign, a hard-fought 3-2 triumph over Burnley, are also exploring a move for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp as they look to strengthen their options in goal before the window slams shut.
