Marcus Rashford continued his goal-scoring form by netting the winner as Manchester United sealed a 2-1 comeback victory against rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday to enter the title race.
Erik ten Hag’s men who began the season woefully started the game in a similar fashion, although managed to keep the defending champions out for about an hour.
Although the hosts managed to keep the free-scoring Citizens and Erling Haaland away from David De Gea, the introduction of Jack Grealish unlocked the United goal as the Englishman headed the visitors ahead in the 60th minute.
But the goal appeared to poke the hornet’s nest as United came asking questions, an answer which they got in the 78th minute through Bruno Fernandes.
The Reds were far from finished as Alejandro Garnacho whose introduction appeared to have rattled the City defence prior to the equaliser assisted Rashford, who was apparently playing through pains after a knock in the first half, to score the winner in the 82nd minute.
Victory takes United third on the log with two points behind Manchester City, six behind league-leaders Arsenal, and three above fourth-placed Newcastle United.
