A 19-year-old man identified as Mohammed Umar has been arrested after allegedly disguising as a woman at a church in Adamawa State.
The suspect, who hails from Abuja Road in Yola South Local Government Area, was apprehended while loitering around the LCCN Church in Ngurore, also located in Yola South LGA.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, Umar was found “wearing clothing that is typically associated with an opposite sex (women).”
The arrest took place on Monday, May 18, 2025, following a report by one Sunday Andrawus, who became suspicious of the man’s behavior within the church premises and alerted authorities at the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters.
State Police Command Spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement issued to the press.
“The Commissioner of Police Adamawa state Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for discreet and full scale investigation,” Nguroje stated.
