A 50-year-old man, identified as Salisu Musa, has died after falling into a well in Gora Village, located in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, explained that the deceased, who was said to be suffering from a demonic illness known locally as Aljanna, began convulsing from what was described as spiritual attacks before he suddenly took off running and fell into the well.
“Thereafter, he started calling for help, but no one came to assist him until our men went and rescued him unconscious. He was later confirmed dead and handed over to Inspector Nuhu Danial of Madobi Police Division,” Yusif said.
In a related development, Yusif also revealed in a statement that the Fire Service, under the command of its Director, Alh Sani Anas, responded to another emergency call on Sunday. The call came from one Joseph Peter, who reported a similar well incident at France Road in Fagge Local Government Area.
According to him, the rescue team swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to save a 37-year-old woman, identified as Maryam Bita, who was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
“Thereafter, with God’s intervention, they successfully rescued her alive and rushed her to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention. She was later handed over to the Police Constable Mu’azu Abdullahi of Sabon Gari Police Division,” Yusif stated.
