Man City’s Haaland better than Liverpool’s Isak, says Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has placed Erling Haaland ahead of Liverpool’s new signing Alexander Isak in the debate over the Premier League’s top strikers.

Isak, who completed a blockbuster £125 million switch from Newcastle to Anfield on transfer deadline day, is expected to add more firepower to a Liverpool attack already featuring Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, and Cody Gakpo.

The Swedish forward has so far delivered 54 goals and nine assists across 86 Premier League appearances.

Despite acknowledging Isak’s quality, Guardiola insisted Haaland remains superior when asked to compare the two.

“A little bit above. Isak is an exceptional player. You asked me about Erling and he is top,” Guardiola told TribaFootball.

“Isak must be a top player because of what they paid. Another one would say Mbappe, Messi, Cristiano… I wouldn’t change Erling for anyone. I know him. I like him.”
