Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is set to sign the state’s ₦892 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law on Monday.
The signing ceremony will take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju.
The development follows the passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill by the Oyo State House of Assembly last week after what officials described as detailed scrutiny of the proposal.
Makinde had presented the budget proposal to lawmakers on November 24, 2025, naming it the “Budget of Economic Expansion.” The proposal had a total estimate of ₦891,985,074,480.79.
Speaking earlier during the presentation, the governor said the 2026 budget was designed to consolidate stability in the state and stimulate economic growth.
He noted that the fiscal plan was aimed at boosting productivity while ensuring inclusive development across sectors.
“The 2026 budget is structured to build on the foundation of stability we have achieved, in order to drive productivity and promote inclusive growth in Oyo State,” Makinde had said.
According to Olarenwaju, several top government officials and stakeholders are expected to attend the signing ceremony.
“Expected at the event are the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; and the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Iyabo Yerima,” the statement said.
It added that former deputy governors, past legislative leaders, members of the House of Assembly, labour union leaders, political party officials, traditional rulers and selected religious leaders would also be present.
The assent to the bill will formally usher in the implementation of the 2026 fiscal plan, which the state government says is central to its economic expansion agenda.
