Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has rejoined Atalanta in Bergamo after a dramatic standoff with the club.
The 27-year-old skipped several training sessions in an attempt to push through a move to Inter Milan, even releasing a strongly worded statement accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and showing him a lack of respect as both a professional and a person.
However, Inter have now pulled out of negotiations, with reports suggesting the Serie A champions could not reach common ground with Atalanta.
CEO Luca Percassi later clarified that Lookman had a gentleman’s agreement to leave this summer, but only if a major club outside Italy came calling, a condition that effectively blocked Inter’s pursuit.
According to Sky Sport, Lookman was accompanied by his father and a close friend when he reported back for training on Tuesday.
The winger now awaits possible disciplinary action from the Bergamo-based club.
Atalanta begin their Serie A campaign on Sunday evening with a home clash against newly promoted Pisa.
