Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, has paid an emotional tribute to Luis Diaz following the Colombian’s transfer to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool in January 2022, has ended his Anfield journey after signing a four-year contract with the German champions.

His move brings an end to a memorable three-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside.

The 28-year-old winger was notably absent from Liverpool’s recent pre-season friendly against AC Milan amid growing speculation surrounding his future.

BBC Sport reported that after initially turning down Bayern’s £58.6 million bid, the Reds eventually accepted a revised offer of £65.5 million, allowing Diaz to undergo a medical and finalize his switch to Germany.

During his time at Liverpool, Diaz lifted four major trophies, including the Premier League title. His departure is tinged with sadness, particularly due to the recent passing of teammate Diogo Jota, which he admitted made it difficult to say a proper goodbye.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media platform X, Salah expressed admiration for Diaz’s character and contribution, Your energy, drive, and passion on the pitch have left a mark that won’t be forgotten. We were truly lucky to have you at Liverpool, and it’s been an honour to share part of your journey and success story.

“As a teammate, you were more than reliable, you were inspiring. As a friend, even more so.

“We all saw the strength it took to keep going through the tough times off the pitch. What you went through would’ve broken most, but you came back strong and gave everything for the club. That kind of resilience sets an example for others and earns nothing but respect.

“Wishing you all the best for what’s next, Lucho,” Salah concluded.

Diaz now looks ahead to a new chapter with Bayern Munich, leaving behind a legacy of passion, resilience, and excellence at Liverpool.
