Liverpool seal £130m record deal for Newcastle’s Isak

Liverpool are set to break the Premier League transfer record after sealing a sensational £130 million move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal late Sunday, declaring, “Here we go! Deal agreed now for £130m transfer fee. Record move for Premier League.”

The Sweden international is expected to arrive at Anfield today for medical checks, completing what will become the most expensive signing in English football history.

Isak had already committed to a long-term contract with Liverpool months ago and turned down overtures from other clubs, making it clear his preference was to join the reigning Premier League champions.

The record fee eclipses Chelsea’s £115m purchase of Moisés Caicedo, while also surpassing Arsenal’s £105m splurge on Declan Rice, Jack Grealish’s £100m switch to Manchester City, Paul Pogba’s £89m Manchester United return, and Liverpool’s own £85m outlay on Darwin Núñez.

Isak now becomes the marquee addition to a Liverpool side already buzzing from a perfect start to their title defence.

The Reds reinforced their credentials with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, and the arrival of the prolific Swede is expected to further strengthen their push for both domestic and European glory this season.
