Liverpool don’t need Isak to win EPL title – Ex-goalie

Former Liverpool shot-stopper, David James, has downplayed the need for the Reds to splash out on Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak in their quest for the Premier League crown.

The 25-year-old Sweden international has been strongly linked with a British record move to Anfield and is reportedly eager to make the switch.

However, speaking at the launch of Final One Standing by William Hill, James argued that adding Isak to Jürgen Klopp’s squad wouldn’t necessarily tip the scales in Liverpool’s favour.

“Liverpool don’t need Alexander Isak to win the Premier League,” James said. “Sometimes a squad can be overloaded with talent, and that can lead to underwhelming results.

“Yes, pre-season results aren’t everything, but Liverpool already look balanced, confident, and cohesive. Signing Isak might hurt Newcastle, but it wouldn’t suddenly make Liverpool stronger favourites than they already are.”
