The beloved co-founder of Lakewood Church, Dolores “Dodie” Osteen, and affectionately known as “Mama Dodie,” has passed away at the age of 91.
Her son, renowned televangelist Joel Osteen, shared the heartbreaking news on Thursday via a post on X.
The longtime matriarch of the Osteen family reportedly died of natural causes.
Joel Osteen’s post read, “It is with a heavy heart that Victoria and I, along with our family, announce the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Dolores ‘Dodie’ Osteen.”
In response to the news, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan released a condolence message late Thursday, mourning the loss of the respected faith leader.
He praised Mrs. Osteen as “a remarkable woman of deep faith and resilience,” adding that her “legacy will endure not only through the continued impact of Lakewood Church, but also through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and deep faith.”
